Course Info
Course Overview
The Bonney Lake Triathlon takes place at Allan Yorke Park. You'll swim in Lake Tapps, head out onto beautiful country roads with views of Mt. Rainier on the bike, and finish the run back at the park for a scenic, well-earned finish line and after party.
Course Cut-off Times
We enforce the following cut-offs for athlete safety and road permit compliance:
- 11:00 AM - Bike course closes. All cyclists must be off the road.
- 11:15 AM - Run course cut-off. Olympic runners who haven't reached the turnaround will be diverted to the finish and scored as Sprint participants.
- 12:00 PM - All course support, timing, and marshalling ends.
Rules & Safety
This event is USAT sanctioned, and all USA Triathlon rules apply.
Cycling (Open Roads)
The bike course is open to vehicle traffic. You're expected to follow all rules of the road.
- Ride right. Stay in the shoulder unless passing or avoiding a hazard.
- Pass only on the left, and drop back 3 bike lengths before re-passing.
- No drafting. Maintain a minimum of 3 bike lengths from the rider ahead, or pass.
- A helmet is mandatory, and headphones aren't allowed at any time while racing, for your safety and the safety of others.
- Do not cross the center line. No littering on the course.
Support
- Police officers and flaggers are stationed at major intersections to manage traffic.
- Course marshals are there to guide and encourage you, but you're responsible for knowing the course.
- A bike mechanic will be on hand race morning for minor adjustments and will roam the course for simple repairs. Please arrive with a race-ready bike.
Run
The run takes place on open roads. Stay alert for vehicle traffic at all times, especially at intersections. Aid stations are located at the turnarounds.
